Julia Kosztka

In all aspects of my life, my relationship with nature and the people and groups around me, and my sense of community, play an important role.

In my work, my main goal is to support the development of the people I come into contact with and to accompany them on their journey of self-discovery. As a social worker, I have worked with women in homeless shelters, young people and adults who use substances, and as an experiential and adventure therapy trainer, I have worked with children in child protection, young people in aftercare and social professionals.

In recent years, I have mainly focused on my doctoral research on the emergence and potential of adventure therapy methods and natural spaces in social work in Hungary.

Since the beginning of 2024, I have been working as a lecturer at the Institute of Mental Health at Semmelweis University, Faculty of Social Work. In my university teaching I try to bring as much experiential learning and outdoor elements as possible into my courses. I also teach an adventure therapy course for social work students at two universities, where we focus on students' professional self-awareness in addition to learning the basics of the methodology.

In the years since the birth of my little girl, I have felt an ever stronger calling to work with women and mothers. Two years ago, I founded and facilitate a women's circle in my local community, where we also regularly work with nature symbols in self-awareness sessions.
